Books and essays
TheStoryGraph profile - where I track my books.
I don't have a great solution for essays/articles, beyond my Pinboard, where they are mixed in with other links.
Currently reading
- The Deadline, by Jill Lepore
Recently read
- The Love Affairs of Nathaniel P., by Adelle Waldman. Re-read for second time, and still absolutely love it.
Favorites
- My favorite writer is John McPhee. I have read all of his books (~40?), which is probably a fairly unique achievement for a reader, compared with listening to all of a band's albums, or all of a director's films, for example.
- For most of my life, my favorite fiction writer was Thomas Pynchon, and I have read all of his books as well (only 9, but still an achievement given their (in)famous density). But I think I'm beginning to tire of his approach, in favor of more genuine and naturalistic voices. That said, I still think that the later Pynchon novels like Bleeding Edge and Mason & Dixon are very underrated.
